Got my June AR in the mail today. I hate to think of it as a 'Collectors Item'. The only other Harley specific mag I subscribed to was the one Dual Carb works for. As my income dropped, and I had to choose one, I chose AR. I hope as the market comes back, that the powers that be look at what AR was, and build on it. I look at many magazines, and keep Rider, and AR. The rest get shared. I don't think I am the reader the rest are looking for, 57 yrs old, riding a bike with 62,000 miles on it. Don't spend much on flash and trash.

Would have liked to see AR maybe sleeved and piggybacked with Rider, to keep it alive until the economy comes back.

And things are going to get better, rail shipments are up this quarter, metallurgical coal shipments are up, PACCAR is building more trucks on firm orders.

So, Reg, forward this to someone, I want my AR back.

Thanks.

David

Wow I just joined the forum, hope it lasts. I didn't know that the AR was being discontinued. I just was reading the june 2010 issue and I could not tell from it. AR was my favorite mag, too bad. I wonder what will happen to the rest of my subscription?

Hey Ride Slow2004, thanks for the welcome. I don't knom why I took so long to join, I have been riding for approximatly 40 years. My first bike was a 1958 pan head dou glide bagger with a few assorted rides in between now and then. My current ride is a 97 ultra with 68k on the dial. I live in Wisconsin, so the season is shorter than down south. But I ride every chance I get. Talk to ya

Really sorry to see this fine mag bite the dust. I've been riding HD motorcycles for nearly 50 years and have seen a lot of publications come and go. American Rider is the best ever. Reg, you have done a first class job. I like the idea somebody above suggested -- tag it into Rider and keep it alive!

Geez, I'm away for a few days and I see "the end is here"! Hey, if they waited to tell Reg, the Senior Editor, the latest news, then I feel cheated as a subscriber. I just got the April issue two days ago, how did you guys get June?

This is my only motorcycle mag, and have been very happy with it. I have dimissed offers from ALL the others for two reasons: 1)AR is the ONLY classy Harley publication that I can show my wife and friends. 2)Reg and staff (ALL)are the best writers in the biz. I read and enjoy EVERY word from cover to cover. I HATE to see this kind of quality get dropped!

Lastly, I read my magazine reclining in the comfort of my couch, and take it with me when I go shopping with my wife. Can't do either of those with "on-line only". Whose STUPID idea was it to suggest that people only like reading news and publications on-line!!! Geez I'm mad!

I just recieved my first issue of "Rider" that replaces "American Rider". I am not impressed. It is not the same. I subscribed to "AM" because it was all about American bikes. I am saddend by it's demise. Reg was an excellent editor and staff writer, and the tech articles were awsome. I really dont like the mag, but I guess whats done is done. Too bad

Where are you Reg Kittrelle? Are you still going to write or post in this electronic publication? I see that Clem has made the full transition to Rider stating how he has owned all kinds of bikes over the years, but forgot to mention his Harley. Guess he is embarrassed to admit this transgression, or maybe he never really owned a Harley, just showed a few pics of some loaner for his articles. As the world turns......

Yeah, I ain't real happy about the NEW mag. If I wanted to know stuff about honda, yamaha, bmw, motoguzzi or any of the other brands, I'd subscribe to their mag. This is a bunch of crap!!!! Now I'm stuck with a couple more years of a magazine that I already can't stand. Would have been nice if they'd have offered to give us our money back for the unused portion of our subscriptions. Mine will now most likely be going in the garbage can !!!!
