We recently received a question from American Rider super fan Don Henderson on Facebook. Don asked for some input regarding Ape hangers; specifically if we recommend them or if we consider them to be “torture devices.”

Do you have an opinion?

I love 'em. I don't know where people get this idea that your arms will hurt if you ride with them. I love'em. I have 16" bars on my RKC.

...y'know..the Standard bars on mah Heritage are probable 15" or so....very comfortable...

...now I can see having apes that are 36" high as being problematic....

I tried one bike, but not for a long ride, with ape hagars that were about 5 inches over my head,(im 6' tall), while in the saddle. While for the short ride i had they werent uncomfortable really, they were for sure awkward to ride with.

Anyone out there have them on their Fatboy and what do they think? I am thinking of getting some 14" ape Hangars for my Fatboy but one of those things that can't decide. Lots of dough if I don;t like them

I have the stock mini apes on my Street Bob and have problems at highway speeds for long distances. The wind really beats me up. I'm seriously considering changing out the bars.
