Everyone's idea of what good quality is, is different. And you can't argue with the fact that there are still many thousands of 50-75 year old Harleys running down the road daily. I'm not talking about museum restorations appearing at shows on sunny days either.
pretty much the reason i went with Victory. everybody has a HD. use to be they were the bike but now everyone owns one. I like the fact that i ride an American made bike that is different. HD should of never made it so easy for anyone to own one but i guess when you're making money hand over fist.......

I prefer my Triumph to my Harley.
And Victory has been missing the mark in styling ever since they started. It's all subjective, but I've yet to find one I could really fall in love with.

I bought a HD because I saw a real improvement in the quality from '02 on, and the 96" motor finally made me feel like it had some git-up-and-go. Interesting how the production numbers didn't seem to jeopardize the quality either.
Don't get me wrong, I like having lots of choices when it comes time to buy something, but I agonize over buying things that might not be around in a few years. My money comes too dearly, and can't afford to write it off as just a learning experience.
The electronics industry is a good example of why I never buy the new stuff until I see the company can survive for a few years. Their constant revisions are working against them.
By the way kzqb(?), your Vegas is gorgeous, and your changes show good taste.

Its a funny thing...not funny ha-ha...funny peculiar..Another brand can't look too much like a Harley or its a wannabe..it can't look too different or it has missed the mark. There are tons of Harleys with 200' back tires and tail-draggin bags, fat rear fenders, apes, two zillion different exhaust systems, shaved and chromed everything. Maybe Victory went too far but Harley owners as group, including me, spend a bunch of money trying to make the bike look different than stock. Maybe some of the Victory designs are too custom already. Too bold a statement out of the box. Just idle speculation on my part. Just remember HD was a ten year old company once. Like Alex..I waited until I felt the HDs were a solid product before I came over. That is a lesson Victory will have to learn too. Hopefully they will survive the learning curve....Unless they really didn't make those bikes for the Harley demographic to begin with. In that case they are spot on.

10ecjazzman i think you had a great comment with the market Victory is trying to reach. i expect them to come out with a sport bike soon to target the younger riders. with HD burying buell the market is right for an American made sport bike. If they try to compete only with crusiers against HD they'll get buried.
and Alex, thanks for the compliment.

My 2 Cents; HD really shafted Buell, but don't count Erik out yet, would be nice to see Victory pick him up, ready made American sport bike, if Erik this time leans more towards sport and less towards race. I think the best handling big HD ever was my 91 Low Rider Sport, or FXRS-SP, I rode it for over 5 years and 32k miles. I then rode a Buell S2T for 10 years and almost 35k miles, and it also was a great bike. My current ride, with over 24k miles, is a Vic 8 BAll. Harley's will never go out of style, after all, they've looked the same for over 50 years; but test ride a Vic, and you'll understand.

Personally, I prefer Harley-Davidson over every other brand out there.
If you have to ask me why - you wouldn't understand my answer.
I'll bet a hundred bucks you have a T-shirt that says the same thing. How original.
You can only make a V-twin so many ways but HD riders always think there's is the best and everything else is a copy. I guess since you've paid more than anybody else for an inferior product it gives you a reason for snob appeal.
You think Sony accuses Samsung of copying the shape of their TV's?

Its definitely an interesting looking bike up close. Much better looking in person than in pictures but im still not a fan of the styling. Much the same reason i dont like goldwings, too spacey age looking for me.
Now the 8 ball on the other hand...

Not necessarily the best but when the company has been in business since 1903 then yeah, there are copies out there.
