It misses the mark for me, but I can't really explain why. I usually like mirrors mounted low like that, but the bracket looks funky. This one of those bikes that probably looks better in person.

Good possibility.
I thought the Rocker was the worst looking Harley I had ever seen.
In pictures.

Once I saw one in person, it wasn't as bad as I thought.
I still don't care a lot for it, but it got a ton better up close and personal.

...y'know...at the big H-D dealership north of Daytona...they have Sportster models I have never heard of...
...they actually have a Sportster chopper-like looking bike...these are apparently off the shelf items....stretched out....raked...the whole 9 yards...
...and they also have a retro-lookin' sporty there...another apparent off the shelf bike....
...they have rows and rows of these bikes....

If i were to purchase a Harley, the sportster line is not one i'd even look at. I just never liked any of the styles of that particular line.

I haven't seen a Rocker in person. Sure ugly in pictures.

I don't care for the Rocker either...it is neither beast nor fowl....

..the dealers try to sell you on the fact that is has a "cute' flip out passenger seat" that hides under the rider's seat...beyond that worthless feature I can't see anything to recommend it....

y'know...to me..iffen yer gonna build a chopper...then build a chopper...not a half azz wannabe chopper....'cuz that is what the Rocker aspires to be...a half azz chopper...off course...it fails miserably in this endevour...

48 is the first year that Harley used the 'Peanut tank' that is featured on this new dark Sportster. I like it, I also liked the Nightster, and I really like the Dyna Fat Bob, with the mid mount controls. Now that is a bike I could run with.

...being an ex-sportster rider...I can attest to the fact that the sporty is a fun 'lil ride....not something I'd use for the long haul....but definitely fun.
...my 'ole sporty would shake the fillings outa yer mouth...which was part of it's charm....
...off course, riding without a windshield was the other part of the fun....getting slammed in the face with a bug at 80 mph....was hilarious...
...I miss it :-(

My Sporty gave me 10 trouble free, grin making, teeth rattling, kidney shaking years of riding. Sold it to my neighbor for almost what I paid for it and he loves it.

My first Harley was an 883 Hugger Sporty. I have an affection for them, but no desire to ride one full time. Now they are rubber mounted, so they might be easier on the teeth and kidneys. Don't be dissin' the Sportys man.

I know the Sportster line is supposed to be for younger riders, so why are the stylists trying to make them look "old school"? I like the look of some of the racier renditions, but I always thought the best looking Harley of all was the XR750. On Sporty's: when I rode a couple at a demo fleet event last summer, I was not impressed. Engine was rough, some components look cheap, and in general felt crude and unfinished. Made me wonder who would buy these.

Rode a Dyna Low Rider next, and it felt just the opposite: smooth motor, nice details with quality finish and components. The light handling felt about the same as a Sporty but much more comfortable suspension, and the 96" motor (with Screamin Eagle pipes) was a joy. Yea I know, it's a few more bucks, but life is short and you should have what you want. Right???
