I was off yesterday so I got up real early and headed out of Caldwell over to Emmett then up through Banks and over to Lowman.
I was depressed by what it looked like at Lowman cuz I remember like it ws before the BIG fire in '89. But the road from there up and over the pass and back into Boise more than made up for it. That was a really fun ride on my new to me '01 GL. If I'd known the 1800's handled this good I would have done this a long time ago.
I was near Idaho City when I went to put my boot up on my highway peg and fell right off.
Yes, I was able to retrieve it. Apparently the mounting bolt for the peg itself had disappeared somewhere. Got a new one and all is good.

I didn't ride anywhere. Instead I got laid off and helped the Repo Man load my Triumph Rocket III Touring on a flatbed truck.

We had 3 days on the U-Haul, so I left the bike in, and just took it down to NW Harley in Lacey. They were inundated with scoots coming back from Sturgis and other long trips, I had just asked if they could keep it there, until a diagnostic slot opened up. He asked if any rush, and I said no, just want to get it figured out and fixed right. so, I will get a call next week, and then we will schedule a slot to fix it. It is hopefully the regulator, the stator will involve more labor, and I don't have the tools to do that one myself.

I was wondering, I haven't been back to yearroundriders for quite awhile, and I didn't know yer bike was gone. That is truly sad. I have experienced the pain of watching yer pride and joy go away on a trailer. My part time job has no medical, so I am looking, too. Good luck.

Update:
Stator grounded out. Probably took voltage regulator with it. While it is apart, I am going to have them look very closely at the drive belt, will probably replace it. Will save a couple of hundred on labor to do it all at once. Rats.

Ya, I had a good ride as well. Not as long as yours though. From Caldwell I went north on 95 up to Hells Canyon and was intending to ride up to the viewpoint on the otherside but the road was washed out. Rode back to 95 and went up to New Meadows and then south on 55. Only about 350 miles. Sure was fun on my new to me 1800. The 25 mph limit down by the water was sure the pits. Good thing I didn't see any Sheriffs.

Went thru that stretch of 25 mph a few years ago. Really nice curvy roads, but we had passed some sort of Sheriff near the viewpoint, so we were thinking he might have called ahead. Sure 'nuff, right where we coulda been doing about 60, was an unmarked cruiser, working the beam. He was set up and ready for us. HWY 12 to LOLO is getting a lot of pressure these days, also.

Very nice pics Ride_Slow. Are these shots all from Jasper and Lake Louise? Sorry to hear about your electrical problems. You should not use your bike to give jump-starts.
