well it was a balmy 50 degrees here in mid-michigan so i had to get the big wing out for a ride. it was a great day on the old honda she just luvs to suck up that cool crisp air. I swear they make more power in the cold. all was going great until aprox. 2:30 the sun went behind the clouds and the temp dropped 10 to 15 degrees made for a chilly ride those last 75 miles but that's still better than raking leaves all day

Why didnt you simply turn on your heated seat & handgrips? (BMW owner)

Can you believe it is raining. So much for riding today. With the wet leaves on the grown it is better to not ride. I seen a guy go down the other day, from turning a corner cause from the leaves.

Hmm i hope that it doesn't mean we need to do house work today.

by geo, I think i nailed it. Now if I could only load this scoot into the overhead I'd be in heaven.

Vegas. Didn't ride there, flew. Did get a bit of riding in the area though on a loaner.

Was hoping to ride with the Patriot Guard Riders in the Veterans Day Parade today, made staging, got flags unfurled, and waited. Parade running late, so had to leave to see grand-daughter qualify in swimming/regionals. Over 200 units, largest Veterans Day Parade west of the Miss.

(The National Veterans Day Committee and the Department of Defense have selected the City of Auburn as one of the regional sites for Veterans Day Observance this Saturday, November 8th.

The mile-long Veterans Day Parade begins promptly at 11:00 a.m. and will include marching bands, honor guards, military marching units and vehicles, veterans units, drill teams, community and scouting groups, as well as floats, antique cars, horses, dogs, kids, and more. It will proceed west on Main Street from E Street SE to B Street NW in Auburn. Several other veteran-related events offered.)

Not a long ride, just 2 laps around Green Lake, but the cool part is that my oldest daughter was riding on the bike she will probably buy, her first time out in the real world.

It is really neat, being able to share this sport with the kids.

She called Friday night, she bought the bike! Soon as we set up a place to park it at her house, she will bring it home.

238 miles. Temps in the high 50's. Auburn to Enumclaw, to Buckley, to Carbonado. Went down A.B. Tubbs Rd, maps shows it going all the way to John's Rd. Nope, U-Turn on wet leaves, picked it up on the other side of the John's Rd. Took some narrow back road all the way to South Prairie, and back onto SR 162. Out of South Prairie on what apparently was the old road, and able to go another few miles SW before dumped back on the State Route. Turned left on Oroville Rd., heading for Electron and points south. Evidence of flooding still noticeable, debris right up to the shoulder in some places. Lots of dump trucks and pups hauling rock to restore levees and banking. Some of those guys really move. Roads in good shape, some dirt in corners, and leaves in unexpected places, but able to make a good pace. Left off Oroville down along Kapowsin, and into Eatonville, obeying the speed limit, don't want to contribute to the local govmnt. Alder Cut-off out of town, and into Elbe, and south to Morton. The places I was thinking about gettin lunch in were closed, and I didn't want a quickie burger. East on SR 12 to Randle, where we discovered the Big Bottom Bar and Grill. Service was good, food was great and plentiful, and they had deer heads hanging on the walls. What more can you ask for? East to Packwood, and northwest on Skate Creek Rd, to Ashford. Skate Creek is new to me, I had heard it could be slippery. Well, truth is, it was slimy in places. It runs thru Gifford Pinchot Natl Forest, lots of trees close to the road, cut into the hill above the Creek, and some places may never get direct sunlight. Moss and other stuff growing in the road, lots of leaves and pine needles, narrow and bumpy. It was great, can't wait to go back, maybe in August next time. (With a fishing rod and more time.) Stayed on SR 7, heading back to civilization, thru La Grande, and then cutting off 7, back to Eatonville. Reversed route back to Buckley, except stayed on the main roads, and home by 5pm.

Next ride planned for Dec. 8th. Hopefully we will have more than 3 total riders, we lost Rick somewhere around South Prairie, he said he might be peeling off. Greg and I had a great time. We probably would have extended to Eastern Washington, if he didn't have to be back home by 4:30, for the heat pump guy.

31st Annual Olympia Toy Run. Weather was outstanding, and turnout was incredible. Met Eric in Fife at the Poodle Dog for breakfast, Collin joined us, and we headed down the street to Destination Harley Davidson, to meet up with some more riders. About 100+ riders milling about the lot and shop, Fife PD standing by to provide escort, but as soon as Rick got there with some more riders for our group, we headed out onto the freeway, to stop at the Tacoma Mall to drop off food items for the King 5 NW Harvest food drive. Collin was convinced we would get on TV just by showing up on the Harleys. Not even a camera in sight, but we got to meet Rich Marriot, the weather guy.

I was the noob for this run, but because I was in front, I got to lead out of the lot, and onto SB I-5. I protested, I have no idea which exit. The other guys swore they could not remember. Whatever, we take off, keeping to the right, and hoping someone would pass us, that we could follow. About 30 miles down the freeway, we see a sign for the mall for the Toy Run, at the next exit. Which is good, becasue the bikes we were following, had all exited earlier, and when I pulled to the slow lane again, to let bikes go by, everyone stayed in line behind us. By this time we had collected many more bikes, but they apparently were happy to be in line. Dang, just when you need some of that rugged individuality.

We got the correct exit, and a well marked path got us into the mall lot, and many volunteers did a great job of directing us around to a large lot for parking. Really stuffed in tight, and some very interesting things.

DUDE! Check out the fingernails!!!!!

Took a long time to squeeze all the bikes out of the Mall lot, but once we were released, the route was clear of traffic, with many people lining the side of the road, and cheering and waving!!!

The route included a run up onto the State Capitol grounds, and then back onto the street, passing the riders that were behind you.

On the lake Drive, where we were parking, to walk up and drop off the toys.

All were welcome...

Looking across the lake, from the drop off, the road is packed with bikes.

Nothing on the news yet for totals, will post in when I get them. What a great day, you can count on the riding community to step up to help. Toys, money, and a great crew of volunteers to make it work.

I am thinking that I will see if the group wants to get in a little earlier, we missed the Cossacks, but saw the T-90 drill team. I will put up the info as it gets closer.
