I purchased a Road King Custom 3 weeks ago. I wanted to upgrade to a bike that had bags, but did not like the Heritage. The previous Road King's did not fit me. The Custom fits me much better due to the tank width and lower seat. I believe you are going to see more women riding the Custom than the current road kings. The bars role to me better than the previous bars. I think the bike handles beautifully and the smoothe style of it will make it a bike to contend with this spring. Thanks for reading.

the beach bars feel like they would be a great improvement on long trips.

That may be, as long as you have a full windshield installed. Opening yourself up to windblast even further is not a good idea for long-range comfort. Personally, I've found having my hands closer together, not further apart, is better for long-distance comfort. Anyone here have one of these bikes yet? If so, post some pics!

I'm not usually much on baggers, but I really like the looks of the RKC. It is low and heavy looking and the beach bars look alright on that particular bike, but I would probably have chosen some pullbacks or something a little more narrow. The headlight nacelle and the hard leather bags are nice finishing touches, I like the wheels and the clean front fender. I'm more of a Dynalowrider type of guy myself though.

Ok, that first messaged scared me until i read the rest.
I just bought a Lava Red Road King Custom. I get it in March.
I was going to buy a RK Classic until i saw this new bike. I think it's cool looking and feel nice to sit on, but i've never road it.
If it is going to be that popular, i'll have to get a new custom paint job.

I recieved my black roadking custom dec of 03. Its the best thing I ever bought. I replaced the engine guard with the Linby Bar and it did wonders for the look .Its so asume you wont know till you see it. You'll very pleased with bike .The new handle bars are a little getting use to ,not sure if i like them yet but i'll get use to it eventually.

Its the best bike Ive seen yet. Mine looks similar to the fat boy but larger with sleek bags .The only down fall is that the bags look better on the bike than off.The Linby Bar that I replaced the engine guard with looks great, really adds to the refined look.Best puchase I've made.

My black FLHRSI rules. Really, to each his own, but I think anyone who decides this is the ugliest bike they've ever seen needs to get to an optometrist! It's low, lean and sleek. I've got the 1550 Stage I kit in it, It's the best ride I've had by far, and I'd put it up against anything you're bringing.

Since we're of differing opinions, what you do to your bike to assure long-term comfort is totally dependent on your body size. I wear a 54 suit jacket, so the RKC's bars weren't wide enough for me. I bought a Flanders beach bar that is 5" wider than the stock bar and the standard Road King solo saddle. Now I can do 1K per day, every day, and I don't have a windshield because I hate the buffeting it causes and I also can't stand looking over or through a piece of plastic. I'm totally comfortable now; each person has to tailor their scoot to themselves. You can't just make blanket statements and apply them to everyone.

The bike is beautiful and rides great. I've replaced the pipes with a different touring muffler and double grooved billit end caps. Not much else needed except chroming the grips and handlebar areas.

I'm 6'2" and even though this bike is slightly lower than the standard Kings, I'm very comfortable on any length ride.

Ugly? You must be on glue. This bike is an instant classic.
