RE: delaware water gap

If you can fit in a trip using route 202 in Dalton MA, you won't be sorry. You will be coming from the eastern part of NY toward the western side of MA and route 202 runs west to east too. It's basically a ride all along a mountain ridge with some spectacular scenery. Good luck and have a safe ride.

RE: The New Vincent Motorcycles

I'm not surprised! I believe the new ones started at 28K and go as high as 39K. I would think parts would be scarce and expensive for the old rebuilt ones too! I think I'll stay with my 00' VStar Classic, LOL! A HD look-a-like! Ride Safely!

RE: The New Vincent Motorcycles

Indian is back again! They were resuscitated by a group of English business people, their factory is in N.C. See http://www.indianmotorcycle.com/ I think they are great looking but, they are too pricey for me! Ride Safely

RE: The New Vincent Motorcycles

Yeah! Been looking at the Indian's LOL! They are just a little too steep for me!LOL But I think they're really sharp looking. I guess they will have a narrow market. I would like to see Indian succeed in the market place. Time will tell. Ride Safely

RE: The Wheel (bearing) Deal?

One suggestion comes to mind. Have you searched the Net for any forums that deal with your bikes brand and more specifically model, Valkyrie Interstate? I'm willing to bet there is at least one site out there that can help you. Try delphiforums.com. They have many different forums and some are for specific brands and models of bikes, for instance there is one for the 650cc V-Star Classic! I think you will find the rear bearing problem you've been having could be more the norm than not, possibly due to high torque! Good Luck Ride Safely

RE: maryland motorcycle inspection

Here is a suggestion, I'm not sure if it would help but, have you tried the Maryland DPMV? If they don't do it, maybe they can suggest a place that will. Ride Safely

RE: Miles per year?

Beware of MapQuest maps! Once I received a wedding invitation that included a MapQuest map. I followed the map to the letter! I arrived at the wedding just before the baby was born! LOL! The map was so convoluted I couldn't believe it. Many guests were late so I guess it wasn't just me. I'll take a GPS any day over a MapQuest map! LOL! Ride Safely

RE: How can I improve the stock seat?

Here is a good one for ya. Mustang seats are made in Plymouth/Terryville CT! Some of the "sub work" is done in NY State! One would think there would be a factory outlet store somewhere in CT. for Mustang seats! No way! The factory won't sell to the public, not even blemished products! Around 20 years ago Uniroyal (formerly known as the U.S. Rubber Company, used to let the local teenagers "test" their U.S. Keds! Remember those? At one time they were the official American sneaker. Everybody wore U.S. Ked's. Uniroyal even sold Samsonite luggage and brief cases for a song, because they made the material (shell) for Samsonite! Car shocks were also available because Uniroyal made the rubber parts for the car shock maker! Things sure have changed.....for the worst. Ride Safely

RE: How can I improve the stock seat?

Boy, if there ever was a "been there, done that" this is it! I too found the stock seat on my 00' V-Star Classic, tolerable only for short distances. I tried the gel-pads and fur-gel-pads and finally solved the problem by buying a Corbin replacement seat! I bought it new from a motorcycle shop on Ebay for $145 including shipping! I believe the model name of the Corbin seat is the "Solo". Shortly after that I sold the stock seat for $50. It's was the best $145 I ever spent! Shop around, I'm sure you will find a similar deal. Good luck and ride safely!

RE: Miles per year?

"Snoring like a bear" is an indicator of sleep apnea. Like I said before, "been there and done that". If you feel well rested on the tempurpedic without the CPAP/BIPAP, that's great! I believe either mask would improve your sleep 100%....without the snoring too! Enjoy your V-Star.....what a bike!!!!! Ride Safely

RE: Miles per year?

I know where you are coming from because Iv'e been there too. I had quit smoking and gained some weight and came down with Type II Diabetes! My problem was, I was falling asleep because of "Sleep Apnea". I never felt rested after waking up from sleeping and used to doze off at work! I took a "sleep study" and they found I had sleep apnea. Long story short. I now sleep with a BIPAP mask. Once I became accustomed to the mask, I will not go to sleep without it! It made that much of a difference. The difference is waking up feeling completely rested, more energy because your sleep is uninterrupted with no "apnea interruptions". It's like I won the lottery. Initially, I could not get used to the CPAP mask. (CPAP aids breathing IN only, BIPAP aids breathing IN and OUT). Ride Safely

RE: Miles per year?

Falling asleep as a car passenger is one thing but on a bike? That would scare me! I hope your wife does well with surgery and all but she must stay awake! Sorry to preach. Ride Safely!

RE: aviod joe rocket

I'm surprised! Joe Rocket is supposed to sell quality products. I assume you did show them the pix you took. I would expect them to make good on your boots. I would find out where their corporate HQ are and contact them directly via phone, then follow-up with an email and pix. Let us know how it turns out. Good Luck! Ride Safely!

RE: A Motorcycle Compass

No problem, glad to be of help. I believe there is too much price gouging with anything to do with motorcycles. Just add the words "for a motorcycle" and expect to pay through the nose for many or most items! On the other hsnd, I have found some items that I though were reasonably priced. I don't mind spending my money but, not when I think it's a rip off like 90+ bucks for a compass! Ride Safely!

RE: A Motorcycle Compass

I find it amazing at the prices for "Motorcycle" accessories and other things like engine oil! I used to cough up $50 to $60 for an oil change on my ride....I say used to. I can do it for under $10. There is no reason why engine oil for a motorcycle has to cost what's being charged out there. I guess it's "what the market will bear kind of thing". Ride Safely!

A Motorcycle Compass

I've been looking around the Net for a resonably priced Motorcycle Compass. My definition of reasonably priced is way under $20! There was nothing out there! Oh, I found a nice one for $30.00 but the part to attach it to the handlebar was an additional $60.00! I said screwit and stopped looking. I'm not cheap, I just don't think a plastic compass should cost that much! I figured the reason they sell for the ridiculouse high price is because people will pay the high price price. They were even way too high priced for motorcycles on eBay! Then it dawned on me, I should look for a compass for serious bicycle riders! ebay had them! Liquid filled, black or white faced, made of black composite material (plastic) ready to fit handle bars from 7/8" to 1". Price, INCLUDING S&H for $8.00! I got mine today and figured I would just pass on the info. Ride Safely!
