RE: HD, Made in China?

It's not a metric/standard issue, but one thing that bugs me about Harley is that they use a different kind of fastener on everything. This plate has bolts, this deal has starthings, and over here are allens, and down there we have screws. One type for the whole damn bike please! I heard of a guy here that spent something like a grand changing all the fasteners to the same kind.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

I like them. If you never try them you will never understand. I see handlebars all the time that aren't apes that I can't see how anyone would like, or that would allow control of the bike. I don't get how a handlebar can be illegal. There shouldn't even be a debate, it comes down to preference. Like chocolate vs. vanilla.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

So, my stock RKC seat, yeah the stock one, has 47k on it and is tearing at the seams. I got a seat off of a road glide but the nose is too long, and it moves me too far forward. It does feel nice though. A tad softer than what I'm used to.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

I also broke my idle cable. Hell, it's only a year or so old. Maybe 2. Anyway, it doesn't seem like I need one. I have put about 600 miles on it since it broke. I haven't even taken the broken one out. My mech said I don't need it. Leave it as long as it isn't binding up. I love my mechanic. Saves me from paying another $50 for a cable I don't need.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

About time for new pads for me too. I took it in for the tire and the guy was telling me I needed new pads. He even said, I almost slapped some on the while the wheel was off. I almost told him what I think of places that do that **** without asking. Free pads for me!

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

I noticed the 2012 Harley's come with a 103 inch engine. I like all the new stuff coming stock on the bikes now. My wish list for mine would be, Hydraulic clutch(it's 2011, don't need cables anymore), fly-by-wire throttle,(had cables break recently), 6 speed tranny, and go up to 103 inches. I have 46k miles on mine so far, the seat's ripped, small stuff is breaking, like the left side saddlebag/exhaust mount has now broken for the 4th time. But, I have not had a spec of "trouble" with this '04 RKC.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Baby's got new shoes! Well, one shoe anyway. I am switching from Metzler to Bridgestone. A tad cheaper, with raised white letters. Only have the rear so far, seems to feel pretty good. Will know more when the front is on. My Lyndall's are about gone. All in all, I might be spending the same money on those as I would have the cheaper ones. Less dust and labor with the Lyndalls.

RE: 1999 Excelsior Henderson

54 miles??? That bike is in serious need of riding. It's not even close to broke in. And, no I have no idea how to reset that light. Get on Google and search for it.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

No, different kinda squeak. Swapping the rotors gets rid of the RKC sqeal. These sqeaked, like brakes do. My cheap pads didn't. The sqeak eventually went away.
